Paris tried to ban the 2CV

At the end of 2012, Bertrand Delanoe (Maire of Paris) announced that from September 2014, cars over 17 years old such as the 2CV would be banned from circulation in the French capital in the fight against pollution.

But the French being what they are, a flash revolution took place on the streets of Paris and it didn’t take long for the Maire to back-off and exclude collectors / classic cars from the bill only 3 months after initially suggesting it.

Certain things need to be preserved. The 2CV is a symbol of France, in the same way the double-decker Routemaster bus is a London icon.
